Dark green boards with gilt title to spine. Very light rubbing to extremities. Light surface damage to finish of front board. Unmarked interior. Age-toning to dustjacket. Half inch open tear to top front corner and two small chips to top edge of dustjacket. Originally published in 1875, this report details the visits of the utopian and communistic societies by Charles Nordhoff, the former editor of Harper's and the New York Evening Post. Especially The Shakers.
