About the author

Jack Smart taught Arabic at university level for over thirty years. He lived and worked in Egypt, Sudan and the Gulf. Frances Altorfer has many years' experience teaching languages and has spent time living in the Middle East. As well as Arabic, she knows Swahili and several European languages.
