National Historical Society, 1991. The six volumes include verbal and pictorial portraits of each of the 425 men who were appointed by Confederate President Jefferson Davis to be generals in the Confederate army. Each portrait includes between 1,000 and 1,500 words and all of the known photographs in uniform that were known to exist. The essays were written more than twenty prominent Civil War historians. Two corners of volume II are slightly bumped; otherwise, all are in near-fine condtion.. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/No Dust Jackets. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
