USA: Viking, 1939. First American Edition. Basis for the 1945 espionage film directed by Herman Shumlin, and starring Charles Boyer, Lauren Bacall and Peter Lorre. A very good book with one name and date to the head of the endpaper. Four thin tape burns to the boards. In a very good+ unclipped wrapper. Creasing and rubbing to the spine tips and the edges. Rare.
Synopsis
Graham Greene (1904-1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the foreign office. His many books include The Third Man , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
