Amsterodami, Amsterodami, Apud Ioannem Blaeu,, 1649.. 1649 32mo. Volume measures 82 x 50 mm. Boethius collates * - ****8, A - L8 (- L8, blank.) Rahir 2006, Welsh: Bibliog. Miniature Books 1347. Kempis collates A - S8 (- A1, titlepage and - S8 blank.) Engraved title to Boethius and an engraved plate at A4 verso in Kempis. Bound in contemporary black sheepskin, ornately gilt in an ornate design utilising volute tools in the corners and a built up centre with drawer handle tools, infilled with stars, flowers and dots. The spine ornately gilt in four panels between raised bands. One corner neatly repaired and a little surface wear to the spine, otherwise in lovely condition. All edges gilt. Original headbands re-attached and endpapers renewed using old Dutch Marble to the original pattern. Discrete marginal repairs to two leaves, not affecting the text area.
