About This Item

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: COPPE / UFRJ, 1978. Signed by Ernest Joseph Barge, Presidente/Orientador at the top of the title page with a ball point pen. Very Good condition. CONTRIBUIÇÃO À APLICAÇÃO CLÍNICA DO REFLEXO ACÚSTICO DINÂMICO Original 1978 edition. Text in Portuguese. Bound in the original gilt-stamped black cloth. 8.5" wide by 11.75" tall (21.5 cm x 29.5 cm). CONTRIBUIÇÃO À APLICAÇÃO CLÍNICA DO REFLEXO ACÚSTICO DINÂMICO by Ilton Guenhiti Shinzato, Ernest Joseph Barge (Orientador). The following is from a Google auto-translation: "M.Sc. Thesis, Programa de Engenharia Biomédica, COPPE/UFRJ, Rio de Janeiro, Apr., 1978. An electro-acoustic system was developed for the dynamic recording of the middle ear mechanical impedance as a function of time when contralateral sound stimulation was applied at frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz. A subliminal driving signal of 650 Hz was used whose amplitude response showed middle ear reflex modulation. The response is demodulated with an envelope detector with switchable time constants of 470, 220, 100, 47 or 33 ms. A mathematical model of the bio-acoustic system was used to analyze, in a graphical technique, these demodulated signals. As well as the physical and mathematical description of the electro-acoustic system, this included an anatomical, physiological and biophysical description of the auditory system which could serve as a guide for otologists, otoneurologists, audiologists and biomedical engineers.". Signed by Ernest Joseph Barge. 1978 edition. Oversize Hardcover. Very Good condition/No dust jacket, as issued. viii, 123pp. (printed on rectos only). Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole.
