Included among the 109 correspondents are Samuel Johnson, James Boswell, David Garrick, Thomas Gray, Horace Walpole, and Irish scholar Edmond Malone. Contains information relating to the early days of Shakespearean scholarship, and reveals fresh information about literary forgeries created by Thomas Chatterton.
