Includes substantive essays by President John Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry S. Truman, James Baldwin, Louis Kronenberger, Mark Van Doren, and Joseph Wood Krutch, all written expressly for this book, together with poetry contributions by Robert Frost and John Ciardi. Published in conjunction with plans to build the National Cultural Center in Washington, DC, later to become the Kennedy Center. Very Good Plus in a crisp and bright Very Good dust jacket that has a single small edge chip (1/2") in the blank margin of the back panel. Miniscule foxing on title page only.
