Having before been regarded primarily as a poet this work of prose established France as a important and versatile author. In this work charts the story of Sylvestre Bonnard, and his friendship with the young girl, Jeanne. This volume features illustration by the notable book illustrator, Zhenya Gay. Preivous owners bookplate to the reverse of the front endpaper, 'K. W. C. Down'. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine.
