A first edition of this popular standalone Agatha Christie murder mystery, an exciting novel set in London, here with the original dust wrapper. The first edition, first impression, with no subsequent impressions listed. In the original unclipped dust wrapper.'Crooked House' was one of Christie's favourites of her works, set in and around London in the autumn of 1947. This is one of Christie's standalone novels.Agatha Christie is one of the most prolific and successful detective writers of her time, writing sixty-six detective novels in total. She is best known for her protagonists Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and a little fading. Only a couple of light marks to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Dust wrapper is tape repaired to the reverse with aged tape. Price label to the front fly leaf. Edge wear to the wraps with some chips and closed tears, chips larger to the head and tail of the backstrip. A few minor marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few spots to the endpapers. Near Fine
Synopsis
Crooked House is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie first published in the US by Dodd, Mead and Company in March 1949 and in the UK by the Collins Crime Club on May 23 of the same year. The US edition retailed at $2.50 and the UK edition at eight shillings and sixpence (8/6). The action takes place in and near London in the autumn of 1947. Christie has said that this was one of her two favourites of her own works, the other being Ordeal by Innocence.
