About This Item
N.p.: N.p., 1980. Vintage reference photograph taken during shooting on location for the 1980 film, showing actors Gene Davis (in drag) and Randy Jurgensen. Mimeo snipe on the verso.
Based on the 1970 novel by Gerald Walker, about a cop who goes undercover in the leather scene in New York to catch a serial killer targeting gay men. "Cruising" was widely protested at the time of its release by gay rights groups for its depiction of homosexuality as intrinsically linked to violence, but has since been reconsidered as one of the few mainstream Hollywood movies to depict queer life in New York before the AIDS crisis, as well as one of the few movies to address police discrimination and brutality towards homosexuals.
Set and shot on location in New York.
8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
