London: George Philip & Son Ltd, c. 1904. Third edition completing twenty-five thousand, sheet size 50.5 x 75 cm, lithographed folding map, printed in colours, laid on linen, slight toning to folds, folding into original cloth covers with printed publishers label, minor wear, publishers adverts to endpapers. Ink stamp on cover: Tynyrheol, Tonna Neath (a Grade II listed house which was used as a ladies seminary in the early 20th century). With inset map of southeastern England for scale, and location maps of Asia and a broader area of east Asian than the main map. Produced to illustrate the Russo-Japanese War, the map indicates Treaty Ports, dockyards and naval bases, including the German Kiautschou Bay concession, the British leased territory at Weihaiwei, and Port Arthur, then under Russian control and a major contributory factor to the outbreak of war.
