Front page story with Stacked Headlines read: "How the Daltons entered Upon a Life of Robbery / Cattle to Bank Stealing / Greatest Outlaws in the World Die with Their Boots On." The article goes on to state: " The bodies of the dead robbers were buried.." . On October 5, 1892, the long story details the Dalton Gang attempts the daring daylight robbery of two Coffeyville, Kansas, banks at the same time. When the gun battle was over, the people of Coffeyville had killed most of the Dalton Gang, killing every member except for Emmett Dalton, in the shout out, the Dalton's took four townspeople to their graves with them. This article was printed within less than 48 hours of the event.
