About This Item
London: Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1947. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A first edition of this railway novel; a fictional story with some characters taken from real life. Cuthbert Hamilton-Ellis (29 June 1909 29 June 1987) was an English railway writer and painter. He attended Westminster school and is reported to have briefly been at Oxford. He published the first of his 36 books, mostly on railway subjects, at the age of 21. In a blue cloth binding with gilt title detailing to the spine, with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, generally smart with just minor shelfwear; bumping to the extremities, a little fading to the spine, and a few small marks to boards. The dust wrapper has been preserved in a plastic wrapping and is excellent, with just a few small closed tears, a little loss to the extremities, and fading to the spine. The rear hinge is a little strained. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright, clean pages; with a very pale ink copperplate inscription to the front free endpaper. Very Good Indeed
