Dawson, Y.T.: Larss & Duclos, 1903. First Edition . Loose Photographs . Near Fine. 7 x 9 Inches. From the Dawson City photography studio of Per Edvard Larss and Joseph E.N. Duclos; a charming portrait of a baby girl dressed for a colder climate, 1903. Oval photograph (3.5 X 5") in excellent condition, mounted on heavy card stock, 7X9 inches. Information on the back of the photo dates the image. Duclos, (1863-1917) was born in Quebec and learned his photography skills in Maine. Moving to Dawson in 1898, Duclos worked as a miner until 1899, then joined Larss to build the studio which they ran to 1904. Larss then left the Yukon, leaving Duclos on his own in Dawson until 1912. Many of their studio portraits, scenes of Dawson, the Chilkoot Pass, and the Yukon Territory during the Klondike Gold Rush, are held in Canadian archives and North American special collections.
