London: Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, 1855. First edition. Two volumes. Title vignettes, 9 plates (of which 8 coloured) and two folding maps (of which 1 coloured). 8vo (7 3/4 x 54 3/4 inches), pages: xvi:374 & vii:384, contemporary full calf, spines gilt with double lettering pieces, gilt crest to upper boards & Harrow prize label on front pastedown of vol.1; bindings very rubbed and scuffed, upper joints cracked, lettering pieces chipped. Endpapers foxed, some foxing to frontispieces but largely noticeable to the reverse, some light age toning to the margins, a few creases to the maps where incorrectly folded but no tears; overall internally good.
