About This Item
New York: The Viking Press, 1949. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 8" by 5". None. The first Book of The Month Club edition of this classic play regarding the American Dream by Arthur Miller in the original dustwrapper. The first Book of The Month Club edition, with no reprints stated on the copyright page and Book-Of-The-Month Club selection stated to the front flyleaf. In the original iconic unclipped dustwrapper. Death of A Salesman by American playwright and essayist Arthur Miller is a two act tragedy telling the story of Willy Loman, a travelling salesman who's life gradually falls apart as the show progressive. The work is a harsh criticism of the American Dream and capitalism, themes of which Miller would continue to demonstrate in his other notable work A View From The Bridge. A smart copy of a canonical work of American literature. In the original orange cloth binding in the original price clipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition with slight bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Slight fading to the head and tail of the spine and the upper extremity of the front board. Dustwrapper is smart, with chipping and the occasional closed tear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Sunning and the occasional handling mark to the wrap. Offsetting to the reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning due to paper used. Very Good
Synopsis
Hailed as the first great play to lay bare the emptiness of America's relentless drive for material success, Death of a Salesman is Miller's classic portrait of an ordinary man's struggle to leave his mark on the world.
