London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1946. First Edition. First Impression. Octavo (19cm); maroon cloth covered boards titled in white on the cover and spine; 282pp.; minor foxing to the endpapers and textblock and text; small spot of discoloration to lower front cover and spine; bump to lower rear board; corners lightly pushed; Very Good, lacking the dustjacket. "Croft's factual style endure this tale of attemped sabotage of a railway shipment of radio "valves" with little charm, but the author's first hand knowledge of railway working permits him to present both the mechanism and the explanation of the derailment in a very clear manner. French peforms as usual, helped by a good bit of carelessness on the part of the criminals." BARZUN & TAYLOR 651, HUBIN p.102.
