This work is composed of a selection of short stories that depict the experiences of soldiers across two thousand years of war. The work explores military history from Hannibal's march on Rome to the Second World War, describing the effects of war on the soldiers and how it can lead to both extraordinary and terrible deeds. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally in lovely condition with only minor bumping to the tail of the spine. The dust wrapper is also in lovely condition with slight spotting to the fly leaves. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages. Damp marks to the top fore edge. Fine
