New York: United States Book Company, 1890. 1st . Three-Quarter Leather. Very Good. Chivers, Cedric. First issue with publisher's address on title page. Vi, 270 pp., 12mo, top-edge gilt, custom binding by Cedric Chivers, Bath, UK (blind-stamped to top-corner of second free endpaper). Three-quarters navy leather with gilt spine titles and decorations, over beige buckram boards, marbled endpapers. Original owner's name "Evelyn Cochrane" and original Calgary, AB bookstore stamp on half-title page. Mrs. Cochrane was the wife of prominent Albertan rancher William Cochrane. Binding and contents are Nearly Fine: tight and fresh, with slight wear, nicks and minor bumping to the edges of a few leaves. Gilt is very bright. A superb copy in a masterful Chivers binding.
