About This Item

London: George G. Harap, 1936. Translated from the Danish by Helga Holbek. Introductin by J H Driberg. 279pp, bw ills, maps. Prev owner's stamp on the front flyleaf. Prelims, endpages and page edges lightly foxed. Or purple cloth boards in attractive dust-jacket which has a 3cm closed tear from the spine head and a nick at the spine foot. The author was a young Dane who embraced Islam and in 1930 conceived the idea of driving a car from Morocco to Egypt garbed as an Arab and studying Arab culture as he journeyed. As well as the Arab culture the book reveals the shocking way in which Italian Imperialism was practiced in Abyssinia under General Graziani who executed 'rebels' at the rate of 30 a day. Also looks at the activities of guerillas under the command of Ahmar Moktar.. First English Language Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo.
