The story of the 1,000 soldiers from around the world who were stationed for a time at Fort Mackinac. This first edition was issued an edtion of 2,000 copies. Contains an index and source notes in the rear.Original dark blue cloth publisher's covers with gilt spine and cover lettering. There is a thin white line along the lower portion of the front cover that appears to be a binding error; the rear blank end paper is also puckered at the bottom edge, else This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The dust jacket is quite rubbed, else it is in serviceable condition. A bulletin from Ste. Anne's Catholic Church on Mackinac Island is loosley laid in (the church was constructed in the 1880's). ; B&W Photos, Map; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 115 pages .
