About This Item

Full polished diapered calf boards with gilt rule; 4 slightly raised bands with gilt particulars and red and black leather labels to spine. Gilt rolled fore edge corner edges, blind rolled inner dentelles. Marbled edges and endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate (Thomas Best Jervis--a British/Irish Colonial Officer, author, geographer, etc.) to front pastedown of each volume, otherwise no previous owners' names or other markings. "Numerous corrections, and with the addition of several thousand words, as also with additions to the history of the language, and to the grammar" by Todd. 1/2 inch worming to volume 1 front hinge and various scuffs to leather of each volume (see images). Please expect extra postage as this is a large heavy set. 9 1/4 x 11 1/4.
