The joints are split at the head & tail of the spine. xii & 763 pp. with plate section in rear. Illustrated with 7 steel engravings, including portrait frontispiece, 7 folding plates [misnumbered], 25 texual woodcuts & 2 folding charts in the text. There is scattered foxing & staining & the front edges of 2 of the folding plates in the rear are creased. An owner's bookplate is mounted on the front pastedown. A good, complete working copy. <p>Fifth edition. "Funfte, mit der vierten gleichlautende, und durch angehängte Berichtigungen und Zusätze, bis Michaelis 1838, fortgefuhrte Ausgabe."<p>The plate section in the rear includes 2 astronomical plates, a plate of the geology of the Alps, 2 folding maps and 2 folding charts.<p>Text in German.
