A beautifully bound first edition of this historical account of the marriage of Caroline of Brunswick and King George IV. The first edition, first impression of this work. Rebound in an attractive crushed morocco, the binding is signed 'R. W. & H. B. 1962'. With full plate illustrations.An account of the troubled marriage of King George IV and his wife, Caroline of Brunswick. Upon their first meeting, she regarded him as 'very fat' and 'nothing like as handsome as his portrait', while the future King regarded Caroline as unattractive and unhygienic. From this initial impression, the state of their relations deteriorated. The work of Joanna Richardson, who over the course of her career completed twenty-one biographies of writers, poets and other historical figures. Rebound in a full crushed morocco signed binding. Some discolouration to back strip, with boards bright. Internally, firmly bound. Minor light spotting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright. Near Fine
