About This Item

E-030: Red Hook Editions. Very Good. 2014. Hardcover. Hardcover. 4to. Red Hook Editions. 2014. 274 pgs. Illustrated with 188 plates, 19 gatefolds. First Edition/First Printing. Signed and inscribed by Peter Van Agtmael on the title page. Bound in black cloth with color pastedown present to the front board. Boards have light wear present to the extremities of the boards. Lacking the FFEP. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. He has also patiently transcribed the text from actual interviews and conversations, and they accompany each photograph. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Italy to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Peter van Agtmael's "Disco Night Sept 11". His ironically titled masterwork. The casualty of 9/11, the Disco Night event was obviously cancelled, the parking lot deserted. But its billboard announcement was still standing, brightly lit, for van Agtmael's camera to capture for posterity. "A chronicle of America's wars from 2006-2013. The photographs shift back and forth from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the USA, unsparingly capturing the violent, ceaseless cost, but also the mystery and the madness, the beauty and absurdity at the core of each conflict" (Publisher's blurb). "An incisive and searing look at the state of America, still caught in maelstroms of war and its aftershocks, but also a distinctly original presentation of documentary work" (Time Magazine). An absolute "must-have" title for Peter van Agtmael collectors. E-76; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 274 pages .
