[Oneida, NY]: Oneida Community, 1874. Second Edition. Octavo (22cm). Stab-sewn pamphlet in light brown paper wraps; 39, [1]pp; list of Oneida publications on rear cover. Wrappers heavily toned at margins, one or two tiny chips to wraps at edges, else Very Good.

William Hepworth Dixon had visited the Oneida Community in 1866 and published descriptions of it in 1867 and 1868. Noyes complained that Dixon's "picture of the Community is as 'strange and ludicrous to the Community as it is to the general reader '" (Wells p.12). WELLS (The Oneida Community Collection in the Syracuse University Library) p.11-12. For the 1871 first edition, see DARE (American Communes to 1860) 1480.
