An excellent copy of this witty collection of sketches by Anthony Hope, the British novelist best remembered for his 1894 Ruritanian romance, 'The Prisoner of Zenda'. The work of British novelist and playwright Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins. First published in the influential Liberal newspaper, the 'Westminster Gazette', and first published in book form in 1894, this work is composed of is a collection of a number of Hope's sketches which acted both as humorous entertainment and as important social commentary on a range of topical events in London. In the publisher's original cloth binding. A touch of fading to back strip, with bumping to back strip head and tail. Tail of rear hinge starting, with board holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good
