Boerne, TX: The Highland Press, 1950. First edition. 22x16cm, 31, [1]pp. Vignette illustrations throughout in brown, red, green, and blue. Signed by Emilie and Fritz Toepperwein and dated in 1960 on the title page. Publisher's green cloth boards stamped in black in illustrated jacket. Some toning to edges of boards else near fine. Jacket split halfway up the spine, price clipped else very good.
Charming, beautifully illustrated children's book by the Toepperwein's of Boerne, Texas. Established in 1945, the Highland press printed several books for children authored by Fritz and illustrated by Emile. The books were printed letterpress with block illustrations, gathered, sewn, and bound by hand. Most subjects were historical and cultural in nature, the present example a story "of a Mexican family and their donkey on Market Day in Mexico." Uncommon signed and in jacket.
