This work of literary criticism discusses the work of William Shakespeare and other eminent writers. Having previously written a biography of the actor and playwright David Garrick, in this work Davies draws upon his knowledge of the theatre and explores the representations of these famous fictional characters by notable actors and comedians. The work was published by the author, and then sold in his London shop. With the blindstamp of 'Wigan Free Public Library' to the title pages are front free-endpaper of each volume. Rebacked, the work is bound in a uniform calf binding. A interesting work exploring the work of the notable actors of the 17th century and the work of several notable playwrights. Rebacked.
