About This Item
London: Martin Secker, 1912. Limited Edition. Octavo. 3 volume set, volumes mostly unopened, with 3 frontispieces, limited to 1,000 copies. In the Last of the De Mullins, produced by the Stage Society in December 1908 and published in 1909, Hankin's merciless realism went even further than before in telling the story of a 'new woman' opposed by her family because she chooses to earn her own living. He told the critics: "It is the task of the dramatists to present life does not argue with it." Text is printed on laid paper and represents one of the nicer examples performed by a trade publisher. Bound in beige cloth decoratively ruled in gilt, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, some darkening to spines and finger soiling to covers, a few corners bumped. A very good set.
