About This Item
New York: The Art ook Publications, 1939. Book. Illus. by 61 plates, mostly full page. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Original hardback, with a Holbein drawings of a man in black hat with brown hair on the front cover. No edgewear, slight soiling on the boards. The book was badly made, when opened it forced the spine to tear the outer paper hinges. In this case, the spine is still present and is protected in a clear, mylar dustjacket. Iniside hinges are tight, very clean with no prior owner marks. Thorough descriptions of each plate, and captions in German and English. The book was printed in Belgium just before WW Two broke out. A solid book despite the faulty construction of the outer spine. .
