Reader reviews for Dynamics: Numerical Explorations (Applied Mathematical Sciences, 101)

From the publisher

This dynamics program and handbook is designed to allow the reader to explore nonlinear dynamics and chaos through the use of illustrated graphics. It should be suitable for both research and educational needs. This new edition allows the program to run three times faster on the processes that are time consuming. Other major changes include an add-your-own-equation facility, meaning PD and Lyanpunov exponents and Newton method for finding periodic orbits can all be carried out numerically without adding specific code for partial derivatives. The program also supports colour postscript, mouse support has been added, and there is a new menu system in which the user is prompted by options when a command is chosen.

First line

Chaotic dynamics has a long history that can be traced back to the papers of Henri Poincare and James Clerk Maxwell.
