A first edition copy. Abu is Sanderson's name for the entire kingdom of the elephant and within this volume he draws on his own experience as a zoologist and animal collector to give a fascinating chronicle of this animal. An interesting history and natural history of the elephants and their relatives past and present. With a bookplate for Desmond Morris to the front pastedown. Desmond Morris was a zoologist best known for his 1967 sociobiological work "The Naked Ape". Alongside achieving great acclaim as a zoologist, Morris was also known for being an ethnologist and surrealist painter, and for popular television programmes, including "Zoo Time".With a frontispiece and illustrations throughout the text.In the original unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely. With a bookplate for Desmond Morris to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
