Pittsburg (Pittsburgh, PA): Printed and Sold By John M. Snowden, Market-Street, 1812. "Allowed By the Authority of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and of the Presbyterian Churches in America." The printer, John M. Snowden (1776-1845) wasn an apprentice to Mathew Carey, and after moving to Pittsburgh in 1811 became the owner of the Mercury newspaper. He was known to be a friend to President Andrew Jackson. xviii, 19-372 pages, without music, as issued.. Bound in contemporary calf, Very Good Minus, loss of binding at spine ends, joints opened yet hinges good and holding well, edges and corners rubbed, pages uniformly browned, 1817 owner's name front end page and title page, many of the Psalms with contemporary manuscript numbers next to the Roman numerals. RARE in current commerce, a copy noted in a dealers catalogue in 1947 by Rare BookHub. Shaw & Shoemaker,; 24851. Early American Imprint. Calf. Very Good Minus. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
