"A conference of Soviet economists and other Marxists was held in November 1951, to consider a preliminary draft of a textbook on political economy. Various materials, coming out of this conference as a result of the reports and several discussions, were submitted to Joseph Stalin, who was associated with the project from the outset. His comments dated February 1, 1952, and henceforth referred to by the author as 'Remarks,' are reproduced as Part I of this book. Part II consists of the author's individual replies to several participants in the discussion are dated, respectively, April 21, May 22, and September 28, 1952."
