London: Hodder and Stoughton, c1915. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 11" by 8.5". Edmund Dulac. A stunning Edmund Dulac's illustrated book comprising stories such as The Little Seamstress and Cinderella. Undated. Dated from Copac c1915. A stunning picture book illustrated by Edmund Dulac. Published for the French Red Cross, to whom were donated all of the profits on sales. This volume comprises fairy tales such as Cinderella, Sinbad the Sailor, Blue Beard, and many others. Edmund Dulac was a French British naturalised illustrator. He moved to London in the early 1920s and received his first commission to illustrate the novels by the Brönte's sisters. After the war, the deluxe children's book market shrank, so the illustrator turned to illustrate magazines among others. In the publisher's original yellow cloth binding, with titles and illustrations stamped in blue to front board and spine. Externally, very smart with minor shelfwear only. Slight bumping ot head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Minor spotting to edges, affecting only the occasional page, particularly to first and last few leaves. Complete with frontispiece and nineteen tipped in illustrations, including the author's portrait. Very Good Indeed
