A well illustrated book containing articles on needlework, including its methods, designs, and history, with several colour plates. First Edition. Illustrations include twenty-four colour plates, one black-and-white plate, and a range of in-text illustrations.This work contains a collection of articles on needlework, accompanied by plates that display the mentioned materials and techniques. The editor's main aim in creating this work was to show 'the many possibilities of decorating fabrics by the simple means of needle and thread'. Contents include 'Floral Designs', 'Silk: Its Origin, Culture, and Manufacture', 'Some Examples of the Use of Chain Stitch', and 'Lettering in Embroidery'. Edited by Mrs. A. H. Christie, with articles by her as well as F. M. Lake, L. Topham, and others. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. A bit of fading to gilt on the front board and spine, with minimal edge wear to extremities. Minimal bumping at head and tail of spine. Light discolouration to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout, with just a bit of age-toning to margins. Closed tear to bottom of Plate I between pages 5 and 6. Very Good Indeed
