Clean and crisp with ownership inscription to ffep; jacket slightly ceased top edge and tail of spine. A Near Fine copy in very good jacket. Detailed study of the imperial delicate balancing act between pleasing the military and the senators in Rome. From the library of eminent archaeologist Paul Bidwell O.B.E. Bidwell was responsible for the excavation of Vindolanda, and the reconstruction of Segedunum, on Hadrian's Wall, and remains one of the most respected archaeologists of his generation.
