About This Item

First edition, first impression. 214pp. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, 'For Patricia, with much love, Antony, 26.xi.89'; also signed by Beevor on the title page. In brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. 8vo. Pages have a little toning, else neat, clean and tight throughout. In its original dust jacket, gently bumped at edges, small nick in upper edge, sunned over spine. Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. A fairy tale in reverse, laying bare the narcissism of male fantasy and the dangerous delusions of romantic desire. Beevor's last novel, he later made his name as an acclaimed military historian. Hard to find.
