About This Item

NEW YORK: The Macmillan Company, 1902 NICE LOOKING DARK BLUE COVER, GOLD PRINT FRONT AND SPINE, SOME WEAR ON SPINE, FORMER LIBRARY BOOK, NORMAL LIBRARY MARKINGS. TIGHT AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT. THE LIFE OF HAZLITT WITH GOOD DETAIL. 11 CHAPTERS; BIRTH, PARENTAGE, USA, WEM, COLERIDGE, LOUVRE, BOOKS, MARRIAGE, LONDON, STRIFE, LIFE, LECTURES, ESSAYS, TRAVELS, CHARACTER AND GENIUS. VERY INTERESTING BOOK. William Hazlitt (10 April 1778 18 September 1830) was an English essayist, drama and literary critic, painter, social commentator, and philosopher. He is now considered one of the greatest critics and essayists in the history of the English language, placed in the company of Samuel Johnson and George Orwell. He is also acknowledged as the finest art critic of his age. Despite his high standing among historians of literature and art, his work is currently little read and mostly out of print. Augustine Birrell KC (19 January 1850 20 November 1933) was a British Liberal Party politician, who was Chief Secretary for Ireland from 1907 to 1916. In this post, he was praised for enabling tenant farmers to own their property, and for extending university education for Catholics. ANTIQUE BOOKS DEN, WHERE INTERESTING BOOKS LIVE.
