London longmans green & co 1897 VG dark leather boards with all edges worn where lighter laters beneath grinning through. this is most marked to spine covering which is scuffed/worn. gilt titling is still bright and attractive. spine has 7 raised bands all of which are rubbed on upper layers - but not insightly. all edges gilt with the odd discolouration. internally, 2 inscriptions to each of ffeps. lovely copy. tightly bound. 1sr edition. deals with the slave trade, the armada, west indies and notable captains such as drake and hawkins.
