About DR UMM'S BOOK SALES Iowa, United States

Biblio member since 2025

Previously CHRIS DRUMM BOOKS, a mail-order bookseller, sending out printed-paper catalogs since 1982 until I went online quite a while ago. Now many of the old paper listings are being transferred to Biblio for the first (or maybe second) time, as well as quite a stockpile of previously uncatalogued books. I've been revamping my inventory, so I'll be able to locate items more easily, and to open up boxes of books out of storage. As far as putting up listings, I've been pretty slow. But I find that takng my time allows me to maybe get things right eventually. My pricing might be way off (last century)—probably to your advantage.

Enjoy books!

I only sell on this platform, but I do maintain a spreadsheet that will contain new listings I'm working on, as well as further notes. Here's the linK: https://www.icloud.com/numbers/07ca-P_S-HQWHVEfdn5oznYuA#books_for_sale

Terms of Sale:

Full refund including original shipping costs if an item arrives misdescribed or damaged. I ship from post office, usually next business day. Saturday is not a business day. Expect to get tracking before the shipment arrives, but not before it is actually sent. I mark your order "Sent" when book(s) are pulled. I do encourage multiple-book orders to save you on shipping costs. Postage starts at $5 and that's where it ends—per order.

From the publisher

Eon by Greg Bear

The 21st century was on the brink of nuclear confrontation when the 300 kilometer-long stone flashed out of nothingness and into Earth's orbit. NASA, NATO, and the UN sent explorers to the asteroid's surface...and discovered marvels and mysteries to drive researchers mad.

For the Stone was from space--but perhaps not our space; it came from the future--but perhaps not our future; and within the hollowed asteroid was Thistledown. The remains of a vanished civilization. A human--English, Russian, and Chinese-speaking--civilization. Seven vast chambers containing forests, lakes, rivers, hanging cities...

And museums describing the Death; the catastrophic war that was about to occur; the horror and the long winter that would follow. But while scientists and politicians bickered about how to use the information to stop the Death, the Stone yielded a secret that made even Earth's survival pale into insignificance.

First line

On the first leg of the trip, in the passenger cabin of the long-bed shuttle, Patricia Vasquez had watched the Earth's cloud-smeared limb on a video monitor.

About the author

Since then, he has written some twenty novels, including The Forge of God, Slant, and Moving Mars.
