About This Item

London: Longmans, Green, Reader and Dyer, 1874. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 5.5". None. An uncommon second edition of this political treatise from noted political and social philosopher, John Stuart Mill. The second edition of the work. First published in 1844. With publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work. An interesting series of five essays by English philosopher and political economist John Stuart Mill. The essays are notable as the first time Mill explored his concept of Walras' Law. Named after Leon Walras, this principle in general equilibrium theory was regarded by his longtime critic, Karl Marx, as one of his most significant original theories. An early edition of an important step towards modern understandings regarding the science of economics. In the original publisher's green cloth binding. Rebacked, with original back strip laid down. Hinge slightly strained but firm after the half title. Slight bumping to the extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning due to paper used. Very Good
