About This Item
(Pretoria, Department of Information, 1966). 8vo; original red cloth; pp. (iv) + 304; map; photographic plates. Earlier owner's name on front free endpaper; code at tail of spine. Very good condition. ". . . the UN persisted in its condemnation of South Africa's involvement in Namibia, noting in 1959 that the Union was administering the territory in a manner contrary to the mandate, the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice. Finally, in 1960 the only two African members of the UN General Assembly who had also been members of the League of Nations, Ethiopia and Liberia, took the matter to the International Court. Four years later the judges, in a split vote, narrowly declared that they had no power to decide the dispute, a decision that brought joy to the South African Government and gloom to the Namibian lobbyists." - Illustrated History of South Africa: The Real Story, p. 460. .
