Translated from the German by Willard R. Trask. Index. Bound in black cloth over blue cloth boards, gilt Bollingen device on front board, gilt lettering on spine. Tape shadows on front and rear boards, and front- and rear-free endpapers (where dust jacket protector had been taped). Front board top corner just a trifle bumped. Else, a bright copy in the illustrated dust jacket that's in really bright shape, price of $5.50 intact on the front flap. Bollingen Series XXXVI. The E. McKnight Kauffer dust jacket design is the perfect complement to the high standard of scholarship presented by Curtius. Dust jacket is now housed in a fresh, removable, clear archival sleeve.
