Buenos Aires: M. Gleizer, 1930. First Edition. Good. First edition, first state of this biography by influential Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges. Evaristo Carriego was an Argentine poet at the beginning of the 20th century who also developed lyrics for Tango music. Bound in the original paperback wrappers with black lettering and publisher's device on the back. The covers are aged with toning, chipping and weakening at the head of the spine, sold residue tape mark and old price sticker on the back. With a frostispiece portrait of Evaristo Carriego. The interior is foxed to various degrees, some of the heavier foxing in the preliminaries including title page. With a copy of a handwritten letter by Evaristo Carriego bound in.
