S`Gravenhage: Isaac van Cleef, 1784. First Edition. Half leather binding with mottled boards. 42 engravings, comprising frontispiece - portrait medallions of the authors - by A. Cardon after W. Neering, title vignette by Cardon after J. Buys and 40 unsigned pictorial headpieces by Cardon and R. Vinkeles after Buys. Fables by La Fontaine, Lichtwer and many others translated and adapted by Bekker and Deken. Boards and leather are clean, with a little rubbing. The spine label is dulled with the gilt to the label missing. Internally in very good condition. The engraved headpieces mostly have their original tissue guards. Front board is a touch loose but still holding well. Previous owner's ex libris tipped into the inside board. xxxiv, 172 pp. 230 x 140 mm (9 x 5½ inches).
