The first edition of this work containing an anthology of fables by Walter Brown.With forty one fables written with the aim of illustrating Natural History. Interestingly, this fables were written without a moral to each.With titles such as 'The Water Hen and the Plover,' 'The Hedge Sparrow and the Adder,' 'The Buzzard and the Weasel,' 'The Two Magpies,' and plenty others.Profusely illustrated with cuts by Thomas Bewick. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over paper covered boards. Externally sound with slight shelfwear and edge wear, as well as buming to the head and tail of the spine and minor handling markings to the front and rear boards. With some rubbing to the cloth to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are extremely bright and clean. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
