About This Item

From back cover: "Ever since the marked success of Mr. Lincoln's Camera Man, his distinguished biography of Mathew B. Brady, Roy Meredith has since applied himself to the fascinating personal aspects of the photographic art of the nineteenth century."

This book is about the images of General Robert E. Lee, before, during, and after the War of the Southern Confederacy.

"While this book makes no attempt to relate the life story of General Lee in pictures and captions, its overall chronological collection of photographs, paintings, sculptures, and sketches, all made from life, form a surprisingly full pictorial record of the critical periods of Lee's life and career."

Book - Very Good condition. Red paper over boards with red gilt text on gold cloth spine. Black & white images. Clean and tight.

Dust Jacket - Front and back both have some rubbing and there is a small closed tear at top, back corner and back bottom edge. However, there is a large tear at the back spine about 2/3 of the way up from the bottom. Both of the tears have been taped.
